Aesthetic Explorations
of the Council Estate
The body of work is a visual exploration of the social housing estates built in the post-war period of the 50s to 70s in London.
The aim was simple: to celebrate Modernist and Brutalist architecture often polarised.
Paying homage to the design and architectural elements, through the use of light and colour, capturing the unique atmosphere at each of the estates.
Using the photographic medium, as a tool to create a new visual language and representation
of these socially vital buildings and community spaces, and change the way they are seen in our modern society.
